When he was younger I didn't really notice him. Then one day, in his 30s, he smiled... and that little line appeared on his cheek... and I collapsed onto the nearest piece of furniture. Stunned. Stricken. Felled by the warning shot. And I've never quite managed to get to my feet again. I doubt I ever will.
