suck

All pre-purchasable tickets for the Sundance screenings of Thumbsucker are sold out.

That sucks for me (and anyone else that paid the pre-reg fee hoping to get passes), but bodes well for the film.

Hopefully it will pick up a distribution deal from the festival and will get released before summer.

The Sundance site says that tickets for sold-out screenings (link goes to a pdf file) may be available the day of the show, but I'm not going to be taking the chance on a fruitless 400 mile drive, especially one that may involve snow.

Tess, it's all up to you to get to one of those showings and write us a review.

I'm really sorry krix, it's been a while since you've reported on a k-man encounter and I would love to have known your impressions of the film and the scene at Sundance...but I completely agree with your reasons not to "turn up" and hope for a ticket. There are probably scalpers there with $500 ones!

There are a few passes up on Ebay, but they aren't for the night I can go and I bet they'll get too pricey for my budget anyway.

I wonder if it will be on the Sundance Channel.

Are you sure Keanu is going? Thumbsucker is not having an official 'premiere' like the other movies [it's not listed under world premieres on the sundance site] and there has been no mention of it in the press.

Posted by: Keanuette on January 14, 2005 12:06 PM

ummm, no, not really sure of anything but the only press I have seen about it was from your site.....sundance kids, club keanu posted it crediting you????

Posted by: tess on January 14, 2005 02:56 PM

Originally, Margarete posted that he would be going, but the link she posted was no conclusive [actually it was misleading]. Then that article I posted from Empire Magazine said he was going, but I haven't seen anything else.

I mean, do they normally advertise the fact that so and so is going to Sundance? I know Lou Pucci will be doing because he has two films that are debuting there [Thumsucker and The Chumscrubber, which incidentally, Carrie-Anne Moss is in]. So, I don't really know what to think.

It does all look pretty cool though and I'm not surprised tix have gone fast.
