I hear the food isn't even that good

Quit messing with my belief system, Keanu.

Now, I'm positively clueless about how Hollywood works, but as I understand it if you're someone famous and recognizable you don't go to The Ivy for lunch if you don't want to be photographed.

So what's the deal? How am I supposed to sustain my uppity self-righteous anti-razzi attitude when there's not a goddamned thing to blog and my nose is rubbed in this sort of thing? Huh? HUH?

I know you're not stupid, Reeves. You coy motherfucker. I can only guess that this was some sort of trade-off to keep the shutterbugs off of your doorstep. Or maybe you're up for a project and need to get that scruffy mug on a page six somewhere. The waving is a nice touch.

Foxy like a craze.

Oh! Maybe you're a SPY! and there's some sort of message encoded in your beard growth and the way you're holding the cigarette. Brilliant, except now I've cracked your cypher and you have to go back to transmitting via your bass frequency morse pulses once again.

Fine. You obviously know what you're doing.

I'll link to the photos, but not because I'm OK with this sort of thing, and not because of how fucking hot you look in those jeans.

Although you do.

Damn.

krix, you know what girl? Just in case I will ever make a lot of money, the first thing I would do would be … I would buy THIS guy a computer and I would place your URL as THE startpage on the browser and I really would suggest to him to take a look every single day. Oh, I don't know exactly where this guy lives in LA to sent him my present? No problem, just have to ask los paparazis waiting in front this restaurant, they'll know it.

Damn. Here too.

I experienced this very conundrum after seeing pictures from the lunch with Autumn M...or indeed, any time I see pictures of him from The Ivy. I can only think that he chooses to go there, and he knows pics will be taken. What his nefarious scheme is, I have no idea. I thought maybe he had gone on a secret vacation with 20 of his closest friends or something, but here he turns up at The Ivy.

Maybe he was in that drive-by shooting after all... *wink* since I've been pooh-poohing that for days...

Posted by: Nudel on June 24, 2004 03:13 PM

...what a gem.

Posted by: shelz on June 24, 2004 04:43 PM

it's a mystery ain't it? but I like the jeans too, and the beard and hells bells the smoke well I reckon you could just say I like em!

Posted by: tess on June 24, 2004 07:43 PM

He's back in LAAAAAAAAA! Ok, now becky needs to books some serious amount of gigs! :)
Hot ... jeans ... seriously.

Posted by: sta-cie on June 24, 2004 09:23 PM

well... i would say he's definately not married!

Posted by: wanda on June 24, 2004 11:18 PM

*thinking thinking* ... but maybe s h e's the wedding planner!!!!! let's think about that one in a good way and trust the big director in the sky!!! just let go to the process... keep the focus!

Posted by: wanda on June 25, 2004 12:33 AM

Baby, I don't get you this time: probably all this is very tongue-in-cheek, but I don't think he bothered being taken a picture here. He doesn;t look mad at anyone, he doesn't react to paparazzis. He waves at them, and minds his own business. Apparently he likes the place, that's it. I do believe Keanu feels free enough to go wherever he wants whenever he wants, and accepts the paparazzi game, as long as it doesn't invade his privacy. I mean, he's never reacted to paparazzi when he went in a place where he knows they were. SO, if he wants to go to the Ivy, he goes, and accepts the fact he'll be pictured. A different thing is when paparazzi stalk you at you home, or blind you with their flashes when you get off a plane, and just want to be left in peace with your friends.

Posted by: Breeze on June 25, 2004 01:54 AM

Ah, Keanu, Keanu. He's a MOVIE STAR afterall. People don't go i to that business unless they are well driven toward fame and wealth. Certainly without any sensible thinking. I don't think Ive ever found anything sensible about Keanu, even in his generosity and humility. And DAMN, girls you sure are right....HOT HOT HOT!

Posted by: keanugirl on June 25, 2004 04:18 AM

Oh krix, he should get rid of CM and hire you as his stylist/PR lady/handler!
That Ivy stuff - boring, him out with a cigarette
(does that count as a female companion *snark* -
in Germany and France the gender of cigs is feminine!)
- and they still haven't repainted their fence...
What is newsworthy about those pics, anyway?
Why is anyone in their right minds willing to pay top $$ for that?

Oh, but the jeans... now that is definitely something ;-)

Posted by: Niobe on June 25, 2004 04:30 AM

As far as we know, he's not married...yet. Who's the woman in the pic? Dark hair, dark eyes...he seems to like them that way...but the one in the IVY pics is surely just a friend.

...as I've always said "I'm a jeans girl."

Posted by: shelz on June 25, 2004 05:39 AM

Free publicity - all part of the pr game - a couple of those guys he was with are part of his management. With no project announced right now, have to keep him in the public eye. Waiting for the valet for five minutes will get him in magazines worldwide for a while and nobody gets hurt. It's when they follow him home that it gets painful.

Plus as I said at C-K knowing how he looked Wednesday afternoon is just so cool.

Posted by: Chianti on June 25, 2004 07:19 AM

Ah, those jeans. Those jeans would look so good on the floor next to my bed. Mm.

Posted by: Smit too on June 25, 2004 09:49 AM

Eep. If I'd known I was going to be linked by POTD (thanks!) I would have watched my damned filthy mouth. ;)

*kisses Breeze on both cheeks*
I know and this is the thing that threw me. A couple months ago I would have been all "my god! can't the man have a pasta salad in peace!?", but now I've heard these things about the Ivy and everything and it just kind of messes with my gray areas. I guess I'll have to start counting The Ivy as a public event.
Anyway, as I said, he knows what he's doing. And hey, tasty jeans pics and we know he's back in LA. Here's hoping for a becky gig to be announced.

I still don't think it's right to speculate on who he's seeing and such. I do think that when there's someone special in his life, he's not parading them up and down Robertson Boulevard.

Niobe, I'd be happy to be his handler, where do I sign?

Posted by: krix on June 25, 2004 11:18 AM

Speaking of gigs ... I see the Vibemerchants have another gig! Yay Vibemerchants! [I've requested that you be on the line up for the next set of becky gigs *smirk* hey, it's my delusion, I can ask for whatever I want!]

Hola.

Posted by: Myriam on June 25, 2004 12:04 PM

If you ask me, much ado about nothing. You're right Krix, on both thing:
-he knows what he does, so let that to him
-thank God he still wears jeans. He did rarely in th past, but now he seems to like them very much. We love him in them, that's sure!

Posted by: breeze on June 25, 2004 03:36 PM

Another Vibemerchant's gig? YES!! Yeah Stac-ie, I would LOVE to see them on the line-up!

... take the contract Krix...he looks great in those jeans LOL!

Posted by: shelz on June 25, 2004 04:13 PM

He, Myriam... el hombre tiene derecho de vivir su vida. No vivas tu vida usurpando la vida de los otros.

Posted by: Pen on June 25, 2004 05:54 PM

I agree: Myriam, the man has the right to live his life. Don't live your life stealing other people's life. BTW, I think we should try to limit communication in other languages as much as possible. This is a public board, everyone should be able to understand what is written here...So, please, if you write in another language, provide translation as well. Or at least, ask for help, probably someone can translate it for you.

Posted by: Breeze on June 26, 2004 02:12 AM

I forgot, Myriam said (approximately):
Hola.

Hi, I know Keanu hasn't got married yet, and I hope that'll never happen. I wouldn't stand that. Sometimes I feel he's been created for all of us who love him so much (?). Keanu is for for each one of us. He looks great, no matter what he's wearing, either a suit or those gorgeous jeans of his (sorry, I'm not sure about the last part, it's quite a loose translation. But the sense should be correct. At least, I understand that thanks to the similitarities n=between Spanish and Italian. So, take this with the benifit of doubt).

Posted by: Breeze on June 26, 2004 02:21 AM

I've heard a rumor that the public speaks more than English.

Posted by: op cit on June 26, 2004 02:32 AM

Sigh

All that yummy goodness!

The man definitely needs to be cloned. ;)

Posted by: jeanna on June 26, 2004 04:11 AM

Hey, op cit, don't you think it's a bit rude to post something to someone's blog that the owner herself probably can't read? Or are manners and a little consideration and respect also just too ethnocentric a set of notions for you too?

Posted by: Smit too on June 26, 2004 09:25 AM

While not a requirement, since the site is in English it's more condusive to discussion if comments don't need to be translated. However, I don't think that Myriam meant to be rude by not posting in English.

As far as the sentiment of her comment, well...
I agree with those that disagree with her.

I wish I were worldly and multilingual, but I'm not and until I get to work on a film with Keanu and have him suprise me with language lessons like he did Nona Gaye, that likely won't change.

Luckily, there are many non-english fansites for Keanu and those fans that I fail by my linguistic limitations have many other choices for information and discussion.

Posted by: krix on June 26, 2004 10:14 AM

He's a star and I think secretly likes a little of the attention. Lucky for us!

Posted by: kay on June 26, 2004 11:32 AM

Okay, I know sometimes I sound a bit harsh, but I meant that seriously. I think it's very important anyone can understand what is posted here. I know many people aren't native English speakers, I myself would prefer to post in my own language. But As this is an English-based board, and anyone who gets here is at least able to read English, I guess we all should make an effort to share our thoughts through the common means of English. Or, as I said before, one should at least ask for help, and see if anyone can translate. If any of us starts to post in their own language, this place will become a modern Babel in a few days, where everyone has something to say, but no one can understand and replay. This is my opinion.

Posted by: Breeze on June 26, 2004 12:22 PM

I should have made it clearer that I appreciate you speaking up, Breeze. Thank you.

Posted by: krix on June 26, 2004 01:17 PM

No, I got it Krix, I just wanted to reply to "op cit", and make my point: I'm not saying that we all should use English because it's the Language. I know there are other languages, and all of them have the same rights to be used. I ofr one adore my native language, and I'd like it'd be spoken all over the world. But as a matter of fact, English is a handy means we all share, with different levels of competence, but it's a fact everyone here knows it well enough to understand the topics discussed. So, no racism envolved, just (n)etiquette.
On a nicer note, have already said that I adore that man in jeans? I still remember when I saw him in jeans in River's Edge, and Point Break, and said: "Whoa, man, you're sex on legs". And then I was quite disappointed because he tended to avoid them in real life. Now things have changed, for better ;-p

Posted by: Breeze on June 26, 2004 03:22 PM

Well... Since the person I was responding to wrote in Spanish, I thought I should answer in said language too. Sorry if anyone felt excluded; I didn’t mean for it to happen :( . Next time I’ll translate it. ;P

Posted by: Pen on June 26, 2004 06:14 PM

No problem Pen, thanks. I appreciate that you took the time to delurk and answer. Stick around :)

Posted by: krix on June 26, 2004 06:19 PM

I think one of the shortcomings of not being an English native speaker is that I really sound a bit too rude in my affirmations: I'm not the administrator of this board, and as far as I'm concerned, anyone can post in the language they prefer. I wanted just to suggest what I think is sensible, if you really wish to be understood and to communicate with other people. So, Pen, the idea of translating before replying would be great, IMHO ;-) (I've been suggested to use emoticons to mitigate the assertive tone of my posts, let's see if it works...).

Posted by: Breeze on June 27, 2004 12:13 AM

Oh, Krix, you haven't really replied to my first post: are you really pissed at Ke because he goes to a place where he isn't supposed to be because of paparazzi? I;ve read surprised comments all over Keanu boards. And I don't get it at all: if he stays hidden, we complain, and want more of him. If paparazzi go and invade his private sphere to have a picture of him, we pity him and proclaim our disdain. If he doesn't mind going to a public place and let himself be pictured willingly, we still complain anyway. I must conclude we are the most psychotic fandom in the world. Luckly, Ke seems to give a fucking damn about what people think, and does what he thinks is right. And I think this keeps him sane.

you can just go to google language translation services if you need to in the future!!

Posted by: wanda on June 27, 2004 05:59 PM

Oh no Breeze, I'm not actually angry. A little vexed maybe ;) I'm sure he'd be amused.

Posted by: krix on June 28, 2004 10:38 AM

Great, I should know the beast by now, as we say in Italian...I've read this blog for a couple of years, and I know you're very good with words, and humour. Proobably close enough to Keanu's sarcasm...
