Last Minute BRET NEWS

From the DMB

"Hi Everyone,

Sorry about being MIA for so long. I have an immediate update if you are in the Las Vegas area, you can catch Bret on KLAV 1230 as he is going to be doing a spot for a company called Ad Tab which he has an endorsement deal (Keanu is originally suppose to be included in the deal also but will not be calling in to the station). It is for the Tabs on the guitar parts of songs which I know so many of you have been asking about. If you can't pick up Vegas radio you can tune in live at:

www.klav1230am.com and listen in.

He will be on between 10pm and 11pm pacific time (1am to 2am on the east coast). I don't know if they are taking callers or not, but at least you can listen in to what they say.

I'm sorry I don't have anything else to report right now, but I know a certain guitar player is in the works of possibly starting his own record label and might be taking his solo show on the road. I have no current news on the status of DogStar at this time.

Hope you are all well.

Jem "

I've got the radio on right now, I'm so glad I checked that board tonight.

Update: Bret hasn't been on yet, the show is a couple of guys playing local/indy rock with some harsh irreverant commentary. Funny! I may call in and harrass them try and talk to Bret.

--Another update 10:25pm: They are talking to Bret right now about Dogstar, and will play a song (Cornerstore)

--YET Another update:
I just talked to Bret on the radio.
I'm a big dork.
They (the radio guys, not Bret) called me a stalker because of my license plate.

You are so NOT a dork! I missed the broadcast, but I'm sure you sounded great.

And those radio guys dont know diddle about stalkers because if they did they would know that stalkers never ever put the name of their stalkies on their license plates. =)

Hmmmmm, guess I'm a stalker as well. Ha!
Actually, I consider it more of an affirmation of the love for this band. Since I got my plates,
I have received nothing but good responses...
Mostly honks and smiles. (All Women).....
go fig.

It was actually sort of funny, they were just razzing me.
I did come off really dorky, though. I was SO fucking nervous, more so than I would have been just talking to him face to face. At one point they asked me my favorite Dogstar songs and I blurted out the first thing that came to mind, Stagger.
I don't even like Stagger that much.
Thank god it was AM talk radio, and there really was no one listening.
I am glad I called, though. At least I knew who Bret was and could say something about the band. The only other callers were really weird guys (probably the radio guys friends) that didn't.

hey if you give me their email addy, I'll harass them....love to the blond guy ; )

Posted by: tess on August 22, 2003 07:35 AM

I know you would, which is why I won't be linking their really ugly website (with a guestbook signed by their cousins and mommies....awww).

Posted by: krix on August 22, 2003 07:44 AM

ah, krix, instead of Stagger, you should have told them your favorite Bret song (which we all know is "Come for me") hee!

Posted by: lori on August 22, 2003 08:11 AM

Hahaha, you couldn't have been *that* dorky! I admire your courage to call to begin with!

But should you really feel silly, there's nothing better then knowing other people are even more dorky, so;
I've been interviewed a few times, and one of these times was for a really BIG radiostation, on prime-time. They wanted to know my opinion about our crown-prince (we have a monarchy here). Now, you know I'm a tease & 'blow up things to ridiculous proportions', right?
So I started calling him a slimey slug-snail, the poodle-prince, the royal jelly-fish... But as a JOKE! However, they cut the part out when I said *good* things. I sounded like a total revolutionary dork. I meant it in a 'kidding' way, but because I was a bit nervous, my voice sounded a bit ehm... tensed.
The secret service is *still* keeping tabs on me ;-)

So if you're a stalker, then I'm a mad revolutionist with the intention to oust him from the throne and claim it for myself! :-D

Feel less dorky now? :-)

Posted by: Julie on August 22, 2003 08:13 AM

Revolutionaries are kewl, though!

Meh, I'll get over it.

Posted by: krix on August 22, 2003 08:22 AM

but at least you got to talk to him. :)

Posted by: kat on August 22, 2003 09:58 AM

krix, what did he say about Dogstar!!??

Posted by: Chicks on August 22, 2003 11:05 AM

He mostly answered the radio guys' questions about stuff we already know - how the band got together, etc. He gave no definite word about a new CD or shows, rather vague "some time"-type answers. I actually taped it. If I get bored this weekend I will try to transcript it.

Posted by: krix on August 22, 2003 11:14 AM

Please... :o)

Living in England totally sux. I miss all the good stuff.

Posted by: Keanuette on August 22, 2003 04:42 PM

OK, there will be no transcript because I realized that I no longer have a portable cassette player or walkman and it would involve me running back and forth across the room between the pause button on the stereo and the PC keyboard and that's a huge pain in the ass. *Plan B* is I will see if Dave can digitize the audio and make me an mp3 of it that I can upload, and *Plan C* is that if you want me to dub you a cassette, drop me a note.
