poise and reflect

GQ magazine image from the daily thud

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Your theme this week is careen-stable. Here's Rebecca Rusche to tell you of the term's origin and how to recognize when it shows up in your life. "In high school, my mom used to let me use her VW Beetle to go to basketball practice. One night after practice, a friend and I were chatting and drinking Coke when we decided to see how fast we could get the Beetle going down a nearby dirt road. Soon we were careening at 65 mph, shouting 'careen!' every time we hit a bump and went flying into the air. When we arrived back at the gym and got out of the car half an hour later, we saw my Coke can sitting on the front bumper next to the license plate. I nudged it softly to see if it was lodged in there somehow, but it fell right off -- wasn't stuck at all. I thought, 'There must be a word for this magic,' and thus 'careen-stable' was born. It came to mean anything that maintains its poise in the midst of wild, fast movement."

You know, it's been said before but *thud*. I mean, it's pretty much Thud City, Arkansas.

Thank you, Krix.

Two words - "Hockey Thighs"

I saw the original Van Halen a number of times back in high school - many maaaannny moons ago!!!
Brings back lots of good memories.

Oh - and me and my best friend met Alex VanHalen too - at their hotel - Yes we were naughty - But not that naughty!!!

Posted by: krissy on June 16, 2004 10:17 AM

Gawd, I SO love his thighs! Hockey thighs is right. And you did mean Keanu, right krix? Not David Lee Roth's?

LOL@Julie! And also *smooch* :D

Posted by: Zen on June 16, 2004 11:17 AM

Of course. But Roth's thighs were pretty nice back in the day as well.

Janice! I'm going tomorrow night! I never saw them with DLR - saw them twice with Sammy. Sammy remembers the lyrics... ;)

I LUV AVH - I still have drumsticks from him from '95 tour. They are all way short in person. I mean I'm 5'3 and I was looking Michael Anthony (bass) in the eye.

You're in for an awesome time Janice!

*wow* from know on I‘ll allow Keanu wearing more often those black trousers and skirts…

Posted by: creezy on June 17, 2004 04:28 AM

I love this pic! I also love the one for the same article where he's in the glass enclosure looking all "save me, save me".

*SIGH*

As for Van-Hagar, Hagar's not as annoying as DLR.
At least it isn't Van-Cherone. *gag*

THE SHOW JUST RAWKED MY SOCKS OFF GUYS.. it was absolutely fabulous.. Hagar did justice to the DLR Van halen tunes, and he did know all the words.. and he's a great frontman too.. My main attraction was Eddie.. he is just awesome!!! No one can play guitar like him.. but I digress:)..Alex Van Halen is just a God on Drums.. he just kicks ass.Eddie was shirtless the whole time.. I was like OMG! But he had his hair up in a pony tail eek! :) and let it loose at the end.. OMG!! again.. They did 3 new tunes, with a new cd coming out in july 20th..double cd greatest hits.. :)

Up for breakfast is a new tune, and as well as it's about time.. I forget the third sorry,.. but there is my report.. they did Need a Doctor, Poundcake, runaround, Jump, Panama etc..They also had video screens so you could watch the show too and they each had a solo which kicked ass as well..

Thanks for all of your well wishes for me going.. I hope it was enough of a report for you..
hugs and God bless all of you
Love ya's
Janice
