Paging Bay Area FX Geeks
VFX Expert to Speak at Art Institute in San Francisco Bay Area students, visual effects fans and members of the public are invited to learn some of the visual effect secrets used in "The Matrix: Revolutions" during a special presentation at The Art Institute of California - San Francisco.

The event will feature Mike Morasky, a visual effects expert who worked on all three of The Matrix films. Using clips from the film, he will show how visual effects were used to bring the film's sentinel machines to life, and also explain the visual effects pipeline in a motion picture production.

The event takes place 7 to 9:30 pm; Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at The Art Institute of California. Click here for more information on attending.

Sounds interesting, if I was in the area I'd go. It's only five bucks and there's snacks, even.

Speaking of VFX and the Matrix, anyone else blowing off the Oscars this year?

I was tempted, but as you know I'm having a party instead. Gotta see if my LOTR boys finally get their awards. And although I'd love to see Diane Keaton get something for SGG, I'm also happy for Charlize Theron if she wins.

My bitterness about the reception of the last two Matrix films, especially my favorite Revolutions, knows no bounds, however.

I guess Keanu isn't a presenter this year? I'll have to get out the old pics and drool over them instead... *wink*

I have no idea if Keanu is attending/presenting or not. I have practice that night anyway so my embargo really consists of not bothering to set the VCR. If he's there, there will be pictures monday morning, I figure.

Have fun at your party nudel, and thanks again for the honorary invite!

Consider me blowing it off, albeit unintentionally this year. Would you believe I'm attending a wedding on Sunday?! Who gets married in February in Toronto anyway? And a leap year to boot. I'll have a gin and 7 thank you, er make that a double.

Oh yeah....

I guess my only reason to watch would be ifKeanu was going and/or presenting--if he goes despite the Matrices being overlooked grandly than maybe I can just record them and watch them later....
Very good morality question...

BTW-Was Keanu at the SAG awards? I recorded it out of curiosity for who'd win and haven't watched it yet...I don't think he was..

I can't help it. If Keanu presents, I'm watching. He's too adorable in a tux and he looks all shy and cute on stage. If he doesn't, well, would it be okay if I just watched the pre-show to check out the dresses and stuff? I love the clothes.

nudel, I so wish I could be at your party! It's only a two day drive away. Hmmmmmmmm, I could grab my passport, leave early on Friday...
:D

Well, the Oscars is my Super Bowl, so even though I think they should all have corn cobs studded with nails shoved up their asses, I'll be watching.

Posted by: Renie on February 25, 2004 01:25 PM

Yes I'll still be watching. I'm hoping for more jaw-dropping events like last year when they announced Keanu was presenting the special effects award! That kept my eyes glued all night for audience sightings. Maybe he will be there to support his leading ladies, Diane and Charlize.

My Plan- will tape it, but not watch it. If I hear Keanu was there, then I'll press Rewind, grab a drool cloth and Watch. This allows me to fast forward all the other people that don't matter much to me, and be able to concentrate on who does. :)
